ATLANTA: Porter Novelli has promoted Brad MacAfee, senior partner and MD of the agency's Atlanta office, to president of North America, effective at the start of next year.
MacAfee, a 13-year Porter veteran, will continue to lead the Atlanta operation, while taking on responsibility for the firm's offices across the US and Canada. He will report directly to CEO Karen van Bergen.
In the newly created role, MacAfee will join a team of three other regional presidents who report directly to van Bergen: EMEA president Sally Ward, Asia-Pacific president John Orme, and Latin America president Karen Ovseyevitz.
MacAfee is also a member of the agency's executive committee and talent advisory board, and he serves as executive client leader for technology, healthcare, and government accounts.
MacAfee's main tasks will include driving growth of the agency's offices in North America, continuing to add services and innovation, and focusing on client service.
One of his primary focus areas will be agency talent, he said.
“Ideally, what I want to be doing is working with MDs in the US and Canada to make sure we're creating the very best culture and environment that inspires and motivates our employees to do the best work they can for our clients,” explained MacAfee.
He added that when employees are happy, they go “above and beyond for clients, and then clients fall in love with the teams” working on their account.
In terms of practice areas, MacAfee said he will concentrate on those that are core to both the US and Canada, which include health and wellness; technology; food, drink, and nutrition; and consumer.
Throughout his career at Porter, MacAfee has held roles including global technology practice leader and interim MD of San Francisco and Chicago. He has also served as a member of the agency's diversity initiative.
Before Porter, MacAfee worked at Sage Software from 1997 to 2000, serving first as director of PR and then director of business development.
