TAMPA, FL: Restaurant chain Outback Steakhouse has selected Hunter Public Relations as its AOR following a competitive review.
The Australian-themed steakhouse brand, owned by Bloomin' Brands, chose Hunter after issuing an RFP. The company declined to comment on the review process or to disclose names of the other competing agencies.
“Hunter PR is the best fit for the Outback brand based on the agency's experience in the food and restaurant industry, as well as their understanding of Outback's ‘No Rules, Just Right' spirit,” Outback Steakhouse CMO Mike Kappitt said, in a statement.
Outback previously worked with MSLGroup, which won the account in 2008. Representatives from MSL were not immediately available for comment.
“We are thrilled to be Outback's PR agency partner and excited to bring our food industry knowledge and branding experience to the Outback team,” Hunter PR CEO Grace Leong said, in a statement.
In addition to Outback, Bloomin' Brands' portfolio of restaurants includes Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Bonefish Grill, Carrabba's Italian Grill, and Roy's. The company has nearly 1,500 restaurants across 48 US states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and 21 countries.
Bloomin' Brands reported a 1.5% year-over-year revenue increase in the third quarter to $967.6 million. The company attributed the sales increase to its 14 new restaurant locations, including three Outback Steakhouses.
Chief executive Liz Smith said earlier this month that Bloomin' Brands is focused on expanding in Latin America and Asia.
