WASHINGTON: Ogilvy Public Relations has promoted Jennifer Wayman, EVP and group director of social marketing in the Washington office, to MD of US social marketing, effective January 1.
A 23-year veteran of the firm, Wayman will report to Ogilvy PR North American CEO Robert Mathias. Working closely with Mathias, she will help expand social marketing efforts across Ogilvy's US offices and with new and current clients.
Tom Beall, who previously led the practice as MD of global social marketing, will retire later this month. Wayman will succeed Beall in the position, with a focus on the US region. Going forward, the firm will likely bring on regional leaders for the social marketing practice rather than appointing a global head, Wayman explained.
Wayman's responsibilities will include business development, thought leadership, and relationship building efforts. She added she would also like to bring social marketing expertise to new sectors and industries.
“We have a tremendous amount of strength within the US Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security, so I'm looking to expand beyond there into other government agencies, as well as looking to bring the skills, expertise, awareness building, and behavior change communications to private sector clients,” said Wayman.
Wayman has held her most recent role at Ogilvy for the last 10 years, where she has overseen 60 staffers and worked with clients such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the US Department of Health and Human Services, and the National Institutes of Health. She joined the agency in 1990 as an intern.
