NEWTON, MA: Hotel, resort, and cruise company Sonesta Collection has issued a review to find a PR agency partner in the US.
The company, which has hotels in 15 states, is in the early stages of the RFP process, confirmed Lorie Juliano, corporate director of communication at Sonesta. She declined to offer further information on the review or the brand's goals in bringing on an agency.
Juliano said Sonesta has not had a PR agency partner in the recent past.
In 1998, the hotel brand spun off its corporate communications department into a wholly owned subsidiary called PR By Design in an attempt to retain its in-house PR talent. The firm became part of a group of Sonesta subsidiaries, such as Training By Design, an employee-training unit created in 1984.
Sonesta's portfolio of brands includes more than 55 hotels across eight countries. The company, which was founded in 1943, is privately held.
At the end of November, one of the company's properties in Texas, the Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston, revealed its $25 million in renovations, including a new lobby with a bar called the Axis Lounge, and a boutique featuring local items named Launch.
