During this holiday season, Weber Shandwick engaged its staff in a global movement to connect people to great causes during a time of year when many people are looking for ways to give to charity.
Weber Shandwick joined an inter-agency support team to provide pro bono support to #GivingTuesday. #GivingTuesday is designed to draw attention to giving to charity during a season dominated by days focused on shopping, like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It is also a movement, started by Weber Shandwick's partners, the United Nations Foundation and 92Y, with the ultimate goal of generating a global conversation about the value of supporting causes and getting people excited about what they can do to give back.
The agency worked with the #GivingTuesday team to create social content and a digital toolkit for more than 7,000 partners. Creating the content and raising visibility of #GivingTuesday involved a team effort to source, design – and for one staff member – even star in the content. Katie Hudson, a digital analyst in the DC office, was featured in a piece of Facebook content encouraging people to post a photo with a message about giving.
More broadly, Weber Shandwick celebrated the company's commitment to addressing pressing social issues, including the launch earlier this year of the Weber Shandwick Impact Project, by encouraging its global workforce to share the projects and causes they are passionate about and engage in the online coverage on #GivingTuesday.
