WagEd launches Healthy People, Healthy Communities

Throughout the year Waggener Edstrom Worldwide encourages employees to participate in programs that are meaningful to them and support the company's commitment to help build stronger, sustainable, and healthier communities. This year's holiday campaign, Healthy People, Healthy Communities, is an extension of those year-round efforts and will aid organizations whose mission is to support children's health and wellness.

On #GivingTuesday, WE invited employees to help the company decide how it would share a $15,000 donation among four nonprofits addressing underprivileged children's health and wellness: Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Kids Company, PATH (client), and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC). CEO Melissa Waggener Zorkin agreed to match the donation. WE has built partnerships with the first three organizations over time, and Asia-Pacific colleagues nominated PRC to answer the continued need for community health support after Typhoon Haiyan.

WE also planned volunteer opportunities throughout November and December at partnering organizations such as Austin Pets Alive!, La Casa de Las Madras, Playworks Pacific Northwest, and many more that contribute to the health of the communities where WE does business. The agency expects up to 15% of employees to volunteer at least 400 hours over the holiday months.

With the help of employee ambassadors for the benefiting organizations, WE shares campaign updates on the corporate intranet, in the monthly corporate citizenship newsletter, the WE Corporate Citizenship blog, and company social media channels, including @WE_Citizen (#WEGive), with a goal of inspiring action, encouraging others to get involved, and driving awareness of nonprofit organizations and their missions.
