NEW YORK: Mitchell Communications Group has hired former Ketchum executive Brett Carrey as GM and SVP to lead its recently opened New York office.
In the newly created role, Carrey is responsible for expanding Mitchell's New York presence as the first US PR agency to be part of the Dentsu Network. He is focused on growing the agency's client portfolio while offering support to existing accounts.
Carrey reports to Mitchell president Sarah Clark. He joined the agency last month.
Mitchell opened outposts in New York and Chicago last July. The agency launched the offices to service its clients and to be closer to other agencies in the Dentsu Network, such as McGarry Bowen and 360i.
The agency was acquired by Dentsu in January, as part of the Japanese company's plans to expand into PR in the US. It named Elise Mitchell to the dual role of CEO of Dentsu's global PR network while maintaining her position as CEO of her eponymous firm.
Carrey previously worked at Ketchum, where he led the New York consumer technology practice. Prior to Ketchum, Carrey was SVP at MSLGroup for six years. He has also held senior positions at Burson-Marsteller and Porter Novelli.
A representative from Mitchell was not available for comment.
