NEW YORK: Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed Craig Alperowitz as the firm's US marcomms practice leader, effective January 6.
Alperowitz, who will report to Hill+Knowlton US president and CEO Andy Weitz, succeeds Sergio Morales, former US consumer and marketing communications practice leader.
Gary Goldhammer, the agency's chief US digital strategist, has served as acting US marcomms practice leader since Morales stepped down from the role in October and exited the firm in November. Goldhammer will relinquish his interim duties to Alperowitz next month.
H+K representatives declined to disclose further detail on Morales' departure. Morales was not immediately available for comment.
As the firm further integrates its marcomms and digital practice offerings and puts a greater emphasis on storytelling, Alperowitz and Goldhammer will work closely together.
“My main objective is to build, grow, and sustain the US marcomms practice across the US landscape,” Alperowitz said.
He joins from W2O Group, where he was consumer team leader, responsible for building and growing a portfolio of b-to-c clients across the company's WCG and Twist Mktg agencies.
Before that, Alperowitz was EVP at Lippe Taylor. He also previously served as MD for DeVries Public Relations and VP at FitzGerald Communications.
Alperowitz could not disclose who would be replacing him at W2O.In June, former White House counselor Dan Bartlett left his role as president and CEO of H+K to become EVP of corporate affairs at Walmart. With Bartlett's departure, the firm promoted Weitz from US COO to his current position.
