Sutter had been associate publisher and editorial director of Marketing Magazine until February 2007, when he was fired after about 20 years with the trade publication. Following that, he had a brief stint with Infopresse as VP and director of English content.
In his new role, a 12-month contract, Sutter will write and edit speeches, press releases, backgrounders, Web site copy, and other marketing materials. The position also includes some staff oversight and mentoring, as well as liaison work with various ministers' offices and other ministries and departments.
Sutter told PRWeek he is excited to be gaining some experience in a new arena, and said that in some respects the new position feels like coming full circle.
“I did my undergraduate degree in political science and have always paid close attention to government marketing and issues management as a writer and editor,” said Sutter.
