The day after the Screen Actors Guild awards, moderates on the SAG national board delivered a written assent, in which they hoped to oust national executive director and chief negotiator Doug Allen. The letter names David White as interim national executive director and John McGuire as chief negotiator. Guild legal counsel verified the assent and all changes are effective immediately.
Meanwhile, the union announced on Sunday that it has joined with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). The two unions, which were united with help from the AFL-CIO, will work together to negotiate their commercials contracts. Negotiations are scheduled to begin on February 23.
