SAN FRANCISCO: OutCast Communications has cut about 20% of its workforce in response to the failing economy. Seventeen staff members were told yesterday, January 29, that they would be let go, Reema Bahnasy, SVP at OutCast Communications, confirmed to PRWeek.
Bahnasy declined to go into further specifics of those laid off, but did say the economy played a role.
“There is no question that this is a very tough economic climate and we are not immune,” she said via e-mail. “We made the very difficult decision to reduce the size of our team. We are very fortunate that we get to work with such an amazing set of companies, and this allows us to keep focused on doing great work for them.”
OutCast's clients include Facebook, Amazon.com, and Mozilla.
A number of PR firms have recently reported layoffs, while some others have shut offices or closed their doors completely. In December, Text 100, which along with OutCast is part of Next Fifteen, conducted layoffs and closed its Seattle office.
