NEW YORK: Philips Electronics is conducting a global review that involves the two firms with which it works. David Wolf, director of corporate communications at Philips confirmed the review, noting the company currently employs MS&L and Text 100.
“We decided to do this as we have used two PR agencies... for over five years now,” Wolf said. “Our decision to do this isn't based on any dissatisfaction with [either] current agency, or a matter of consolidation.”
Both agencies were invited to pitch, as well as several others, Wolf added. A decision is expected by next month.
Currently there is no formal division between the areas that each agency handles. “Countries and regions have the option of using either or both agenc[ies] as they see fit,” he noted.
Scott Friedman, director for North America for Text 100, said the agency handles work across many sectors for Philips. Sara Donaldson, manager of North America media relations for MS&L, declined comment.
“We are not doing this review with a specific purpose of paring down agencies, but rather to thoroughly measure performance and capability against our current and future needs,” Wolf said.
