The managing director of the new office is Ian Barr, who left as account director at Hill & Knowlton's technology practice after about seven years with the firm. Barr said the Canadian office will tap the creative team in L.A., which since 2002 has created social media and interactive word-of-mouth marketing campaigns for such companies as Procter & Gamble, Sony, and Levi's.
“We will staff up in Toronto, but do so in a way that continues our dedication to excellence in terms of our employees,” Craig Howe, CEO and founder of Rocket XL, told PRWeek. “Right now it is about having our team behind Ian, who knows the market, can translate the brand strategies and nuances of the Canadian market.”
Howe added that Rocket XL also has expansion plans for Europe. “We see ourselves as the first globally-focused social media agency,” said Howe.
