RNC names Francis director of communications

WASHINGTON: The Republican National Committee (RNC) has named Trevor Francis its director of communications. Francis, a current MD in the media practice at Burson-Marsteller, will report to RNC chairman Michael Steele. His past experience includes an earlier stint at the RNC when he was a communications specialist for its press office under chairmen Haley Barbour and Jim Nicholson. He also worked on George W. Bush's 2000 campaign, and held subsequent communications posts within the administration. Francis plans to start work at the RNC the first week of April, he said.
