Facebook, Wordpress.com lead "conversational" media growth: comScore

TORONTO: The number of Canadians visiting conversational media—including blogs and social networking sites—grew by 6% last year, outpacing the 1% growth in total Internet users. In total, conversational media now reaches 80% of Canada's online population of just over 24 million people.

TORONTO: The number of Canadians visiting conversational media—including blogs and social networking sites—grew by 6% last year, outpacing the 1% growth in total Internet users. In total, conversational media now reaches 80% of Canada's online population of just over 24 million people.

The comScore report on the Canadian digital market ranked Facebook as the top social networking site in Canada, as it grew to 18.2 million unique visitors, a robust 18% increase over year-end 2007 figures. MySpace.com also had a healthy increase, growing 14% to 5.1 million visitors.

Among blogging platforms, Blogger.com ranked number one, with 10 million visitors, a 19% increase over 2007, followed by Wordpress.com with six million visitors, a 57% increase.
