TORONTO: Marketwire has laid off Thom Brodeur, the company's SVP of global strategy and development, according to Paolina Milana, VP of marketing for the company. PRNewser first reported the news. Brodeur joined the firm in January 2007 and he oversaw product development and integration, media relations, and strategic alliances, among other duties. According to Milana, the cut was part of strategic planning that began "before 2008" and includes investment in technology. The company is hiring, Milana continued. Brodeur called the split "amicable" and said he's still deciding on his next career move.
