WASHINGTON: The White House's Ellen Moran, director of communications, will leave her post for a position as chief of staff for Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, according to several news reports.

Moran is the former executive director of Emily's List and, according to The Associated Press, "one of only a few senior White House advisers who did not have a role in Obama's campaign and who was not one of his longtime close confidants before he was president."

A replacement has not been announced.
