The creation of the tool was prompted by feedback from members and was in development for about a year. According to Kathy Cripps, president of the Council, the idea is to make the RFP and the ensuing search more “straightforward.”
“We've done some research with members in the last year and this idea of challenging RFPs has surfaced time and again,” said Cripps.
RFP Builder has four sections: design search, create timetable, build RFP, and identify agencies to participate. It also offers other guidelines and tools.
The Council will drive traffic to the tool through its Web site, including its “Find a Firm” database, which is a resource for organizations searching for a PR firm, and media outreach to mainstream business media, trade publications, and other outlets that clients frequent.
Cripps said the timing for the launch of RFP Builder coincides with what the industry hopes will be a successful third quarter.
“We have been talking to agencies about pipelines and there is a lot of new business activity,” she said. “As we go into the third quarter, we're hoping the economy will be a little better and clients will be loosening up their budgets so there will be RFP activity.”
