A University of Minnesota professor and the publisher of a site called HealthNewsReview.org reviewed four morning show health programs that aired this year.

Publisher Gary Schwitzer noted that morning shows in particular "unquestioningly promote new drugs and new technologies," "raise unrealistic expectations of unproven technologies that may produce more harm than good," "fail to ask tough questions," and "make any discussion of health care reform that much more difficult."

The critiqued list of morning shows looked at issues of obesity and weight loss, paralysis and spinal cord injury, medical technologies, and cardiovascular diseases.
