The Financial Times takes a look at how WPP Group is faring, including the pessimism surrounding the company's upcoming earnings report on August 26, and the August 10 announcement that rival Publicis Groupe will acquire Razorfish.

Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, has been more negative about how the company and industry is faring, compared to the statements and comments put out by other media companies, reports the Times.

Sorrell told the paper that "the second half may look as if it’s improving, but that’s only because comparisons with last year’s figures will be easier in the second half of this year than they were in the first."
