BOCA RATON, FL: SheBlogs.org, an online suite of services to connect PR professionals and the female blogging community, launches for the public today.
The site offers a “four-touch approach” that includes a vehicle for PR and marketing professionals who register with the site to distribute press releases and media alerts to the bloggers that are part of it. It also includes a community-style site and weekly newsletter (open only to bloggers), along with Twitter and Facebook outreach. PR pros who register with the site can also list their organization on the company directory, and make other announcements targeting the blogger community.
“Bloggers are very interactive; they like the community atmosphere,” said site cofounder Michael Conner, speaking specifically about women bloggers. “We found traditional media tools weren't able to get in touch with bloggers. The only way to reach them is through social media.”
Conner has 14 years of PR experience, including as the former PR director at Fotolia and he has his own firm Conner Communications. SheBlogs.org has another cofounder, which it declined to name.
The for-profit company said it has established a network of more than 500 bloggers, and had gathered about 5,000 unique visitors by the end of July when it launched in beta. The site's blogger community consists of mommy bloggers, fashionistas, and other female bloggers across a variety of topics. The site will continue in beta for the next month. Its clients include Gatorade and clothing company Lands' End.
