Hip-hop star Kanye West is getting some bad publicity
after he interrupted Taylor Swift
as the singer was making an acceptance speech for Best Female Video at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. Grabbing the microphone from the 19-year-old country singer, West said, "I'm sorry, but Beyoncé [Knowles] had one of the best videos of all time." The move has garnered nothing but criticism for the rapper, who was booed and eventually escorted out of the ceremony.
West has apologized
via his blog, but the critics
are out in full force today. Taylor Swift, Kanye, and Beyoncé are some of the top trending topics on Twitter. My favorite response so far has been from fellow singer Katy Perry, who Tweeted
some profanity at West, and then wrote, "It's like you stepped on a kitten."
Later on in the evening, Knowles, who won Best Video of the Year, made up for the disruption by inviting Swift to finish her speech on stage.
