The entry deadline for our PRWeek Awards in the US closes today, but over in London, our sister publication PRWeek UK has already handed out its annual awards.
Check out the winners here, and a note from editor Danny Rogers here.
While awards night is always exciting for the industry, it seems the UK ones got an added dash of drama when protestors interrupted the event. The Guardian has the story.
The swanky black tie affair, held at Grosvenor House on Park Lane, was infiltrated by members of airport activist group Plane Stupid. The interlopers targeted the table booked by Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic. A kerfuffle ensued during the dinner phase of the evening which reportedly resulted in five police vehicles – and as many as 20 bobbies – turning up removing the Plane Stupid members.
PRWeek UK wrote about the incident as well, noting how the PR pros in the room helped manage the crisis.
