NEW YORK: Competitive Technologies has hired RF Binder Partners to help it market its Calmare Therapy Treatment, an FDA-approved device that non-invasively treats high-intensity oncologic and neuropathic pain.
It was approved by the FDA in February 2009, but sales began about a month ago, so RF Binder was brought on to help in October.
CTT made the selection with its investor relations firm IR Services, after looking at a number of agencies. “We chose RF Binder because they understand the medical field, and that's what we liked about them,” said Johnnie D. Johnson, CEO of IR Services. “We didn't have to explain the various approval processes and the value of those processes both domestically and internationally, because they already understood it.”
This is the first time CTT has hired a PR firm. In the past, it has typically licensed its technology to other companies. “We believe this product is so good, we didn't want to hand it off,” said Johnson.
RF Binder has created a grassroots campaign targeted at medical professionals, hospitals and the general public, with a focus on online and print media relations. Messaging focuses on the fact that Calmare Therapy Treatment has proven to be an effective alternative to narcotic painkillers, with no adverse side effects.
The campaign has already launched.
