TUSCALOOSA, AL: The University of Alabama's Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations plans to launch a fellowship program that it hopes will expose professors to current day-to-day operations of the PR function.

In the first year of the program, the center plans to place eight educators in PR agency, corporate, nonprofit, and government sector roles for two full weeks. The organizations will pay housing expenses for the chosen educator, and the educators or their institutions will pay for travel to the sponsoring organization and any out-of-pocket expenses.

The center will market the program to both educators and organization leaders, as well as coordinate the application process and “match.”
