WASHINGTON: Steinreich Communications acquired DC-based O'Donnell & Associates, building its presence in the nation's capital and expanding its issues management expertise. Brett O'Donnell, founder and principal of O'Donnell & Associates, becomes VP and GM of Washington operations and the firm will now trade as Steinreich Communications.

The newly combined operation is worth $10 million, said Stan Steinreich, president and CEO of the New Jersey-based agency. Three O'Donnell & Associates employees are now in the Washington office, including O'Donnell, and the agency has 32 staffers in total.

"We've always had one or two people in Washington in different iterations," Steinreich said. "This was an opportunity to upgrade our offerings to clients and bring in someone who is much more seasoned in Washington."

O'Donnell brings government and media contacts to Steinreich, as well as expertise in issues management, where the agency has seen recent growth and added several trade association clients. Additionally, Steinreich will be able to offer O'Donnell's clients more corporate and consumer-focused PR support.

Several O'Donnell clients are joining the new agency, including some senior Republican candidates. Steinreich said: "We'll be involved in Senate and gubernatorial races around the country."
