Huckman, SVP and director of media strategy, said the blog, called Mike's PRescription, will look at the healthcare industry broadly, as well as his transition from a career in media to PR.
At CNBC, Huckman managed the “Pharmas Market” blog and appeared on CNBC daily to report on the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries.
He said that he is still working out the strategy for the new blog, which may include posts from other MS&L staff, but aims for the content to evolve organically.
Unlike other practices areas such as consumer, digital, and even public affairs, there are few senior-level PR practitioners who work in agency healthcare practices that are blogging.
Mark Senak, SVP and partner at Fleishman-Hillard, launched Eye on FDA in 2005. Another example of an active agency healthcare blog is WCG's Common Sense.
"What you're dealing with is a more highly regulated industry," said Senak. "You have to be careful about how you say things."
