Organization: US Fund for UNICEF
Team size: Approximately 25
What's new: Veronica Pollard started as SVP of marketing and communications in April

Veronica Pollard joined the US Fund for UNICEF in April, after serving as VP of communications and public policy for Save the Children. Replacing Jay Aldous, who served as CMO, Pollard said that, while her title had changed, her responsibilities - overseeing four different communications and marketing-related departments - are the same.

Of the four departments, the PR, media, and emergencies arm oversees traditional PR and responds immediately to emergencies through media relations. Day to day, this department handles UNICEF's celebrity ambassador program, oversees social media, writes press releases, and tells the story of children affected by various emergencies, as well as UNICEF's work during tragedies such as the Haiti earthquake.

In addition, Pollard oversees the marketing department, editorial and creative services, and product marketing. She also has several objectives for the overall division as she begins her tenure.

"One is trying to create messages and information that will help the public to understand what differentiates UNICEF and its work from that of other organizations that help children in need across the globe," says Pollard. "The second is to continue to build stronger links between our marketing and communications work and fundraising."
