NEW YORK: Siemens Corporation named Camille Johnston VP of corporate affairs as the company continues the move of its US headquarters to Washington.

Johnston is director of communications for First Lady Michelle Obama and special assistant to President Barack Obama. She has held communications positions at the Entertainment Industry Foundation, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Rodale.

Her start date is September 7 and she will report to Eric Spiegel, president and CEO of Siemens Corporation since January. He is based in Washington.

The company is in the process of moving its US headquarters to Washington, where Johnston will also be based.

She will be the first communications team member in Washington, although it is still to be decided whether any members of the communications team in New Jersey and New York will also be moving to DC, said Elizabeth Cho, PR director for Siemens Corporation.

James Whaley, who was promoted to SVP of communications and marketing at Siemens in July, said Johnston will help the company heighten its visibility in Washington. "We want to be widely recognized in the political audience," he added.

Whaley was tapped to lead communications strategy in the US in 2009 following the departure of Jack Bergen, former VP of corporate affairs and marketing. He continues to report to Spiegel.
