Cell, Wi-Fi finally set for NYC subway

After years of planning and negotiations, there is a movement to wire NYC's subway platforms for both cellular and wi-fi service.

After years of planning and negotiations, there is a movement to wire NYC's subway platforms for both cellular and wi-fi service.

The MTA has been looking for a contractor to perform the service for several years and has reached an agreement with Transit Wireless. The company will have two years to set up technology testing sites in a few of the city's 277 underground stations. It will take another 4 years to connect the rest.
