BP reportedly replaced Anne Womack Kolton, its head of US media relations, with company veteran Scott Dean, according to a Bloomberg report.
Kolton, who has held positions at the Department of Energy, Brunswick Group, and APCO Worldwide, joined the company in June, following the retirement of Ronnie Chappell. Dean's current title is GM of press relations. He has reportedly worked for BP for 12 years.
BP said this week the compensation and clean-up costs for the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico have hit $6.1 billion. It also told news outlets it planned its first relief well to intercept the Macondo well later this week, an action the company says will permanently seal it.
