Reporting to partner Patrick Rooney, who leads the division, Severns will work to develop content, interactive, and consumer experiences for Zócalo clients. She will lead a team of five internal staffers, as well as oversee partners and freelancers.
"We are increasingly being asked by our clients to not only formally develop content, but interactive experiences and in-market experiences," said Paul Rand, president and CEO of Zócalo Group, "so we've been aggressively building out this team called Zócalo Studios." The word-of-mouth and social media marketing agency, which is part of Omnicom and Ketchum, does not have a creative director overall.
Previously design director at Harpo Productions, Severns worked with The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah's Book Club, O, The Oprah Magazine, and Harpo Films. Rand said Severns experience with Harpo will help its clients as they increasingly look to target women.
"Jennifer's background, in terms of all the work with Harpo Productions," Rand said, "was completely in line with directionally what we've been doing and where we want to expand."
