World Vision promotes former PRWeek UK publisher to CCO

LONDON: World Vision International has appointed former PRWeek UK publisher/editor-in-chief Kate Nicholas to the role of global chief communications officer.

LONDON: World Vision International has appointed former PRWeek UK publisher/editor-in-chief Kate Nicholas to the role of global chief communications officer.

Nicholas, currently the children's charity's associate director of communications and campaigns for the UK, replaces John McCoy, who retires at the end of September.

In her new role Nicholas will oversee internal and external communications, shared services and the charity's network of 240 communicators across 100 countries. In addition, she will work on the nonprofit's Child Health Now campaign, which started in 2010 and is due to run until 2015.

She said: “Our greatest strength as an organization is our grassroots nature - 97% of our staff are employed in their country of origin. I plan to listen to our communication leaders across the world, understand what their needs are, and set and coordinate the global strategy for World Vision.”

Prior to joining World Vision in 2006, Nicholas was associate publisher/editor-in-chief of Haymarket's PRWeek in the UK.
