SAN FRANCISCO:  Bite Communications named Simon Mathews SVP, head of digital strategies, and Caroline Kawashima VP, focused on corporate communications.

The hires come as the PR agency continues to buttress its digital strategy consultancy. Mathews previously advised multi-national clients as VP of strategy for the ad and marketing agency Isobar in San Francisco, and built-out and led Ogilvy PR's tech and Internet practice in Hong Kong and Asia.

Mathews has been hired at Bite to bolster and lead its digital offering, as well as provide senior client counsel and drive staff development.

Before Bite, Kawashima managed global corporate communications for Autodesk. In addition to focusing on corporate communications at Bite, she will also be the senior lead of the Sybase account.

Mathews reports to recently appointed Bite North American GM Michelle Herman, while Kawashima reports to Tony Hynes, Bites' West Coast general manager.

Both are based in San Francisco.
