Prior to this, Yakob was EVP chief technology strategist at McCann-Erickson New York, where his job was to work out how brands, people and technology can play better together, developing consumer-involved ideas for Nikon, Verizon and Kohl's.

Previously, Yakob spent five years as digital ninja at groundbreaking agency Naked Communications, in London, Sydney and New York, working with brands including Google, Sony, and Coca-Cola.

Yakob regularly writes about brands, media, communications, and technology for publications including Fast Company, Contagious, and Forbes. He writes a blog called Talent Imitates, Genius Steals (www.farisyakob.com), which was named one of the 10 best blogs to follow by Mashable. Yakob helped organise Twestival, a global twitter meet-up to raise money for charities and is featured in an upcoming movie about branding by Morgan Spurlock.
