SAN FRANCISCO: Shopping iPhone application maker Shopkick hired Atomic PR to be its AOR for an array of PR services, including event management, media relations, and digital services.

The Palo Alto, CA-headquartered company developed a location-based, iPhone application that rewards shoppers, for example, for visiting a partner store. A signal on the phone alerts the retailer, and then a shopper can be awarded redeemable “kickbucks."

Founded in 2009, the startup raised $2.5 million in venture capital funding over the past year. Then in July of this year it raised an additional $15 million in funding.

Initial retail partners of the service include Macy's, American Eagle and Best Buy.
