Late last week, NBC Universal announced that CEO Jeff Zucker would step down from his position as Comcast takes over the company. He will leave the network when the acquisition is final. Over the weekend, Comcast announced that Steve Burke, COO, will take over for Zucker.

Burke, who previously worked at Disney throughout its acquisition of ABC, will work to boost ratings and orchestrate a seamless integration of the two companies. The Wall Street Journal reported:
In selecting Mr. Burke, Comcast is putting NBC Universal in the hands of an executive who has been deeply involved in Comcast's ongoing efforts to reinvent its cable service to compete with the Internet. The move signals that the cable operator plans to manage its new asset closely.

Comcast and NBC Universal declined to comment to PRWeek about communications around these executive changes.
