NEW YORK: Abernathy MacGregor Group is promoting Winnie Lerner and Chuck Burgess, both MDs, to co-presidents, as president Adam Miller plans to leave the agency at the end of the year. Miller will go to Comcast, where he will serve as a senior adviser.
Miller, who has been with Abernathy since 1994, starts at Comcast at the beginning of the year, said D'Arcy Rudnay, SVP of corporate communications for Comcast. Abernathy has been an agency partner with Comcast for years, including working on the deal with NBC Universal.
“He's been a trusted partner for over a decade and I'm thrilled to have him as part of the Comcast team,” Rudnay told PRWeek.
Abernathy promoted Lex Suvanto, MD of strategy and operations, to COO, overseeing day-to-day operations, staff development, and agency marketing. The agency also promoted MD Ian Campbell to vice chairman. He will continue to oversee West Coast operations, and will serve as vice chairman alongside vice chairman James MacGregor. The changes are effective October 1, though Miller will stay with the agency until the end of the year.
"We are on track to have our best year ever in 2010 and we are excited about these management changes to capitalize on our momentum and position us for future success," Jim Abernathy, chairman and CEO, told PRWeek. "Chuck Burgess and Winnie Lerner are two of our longest-standing and productive leaders within our firm, and it's only natural that they would take on these positions."Additionally, MD Tom Johnson will now oversee M&A activity for Abernathy MacGregor, which has worked on more than 70 transactions so far in 2010. MD Carina Davidson is also taking responsibility for the agency's participation in financial communications network AMO.
