WASHINGTON: Powell Tate has launched PoliPulse, a free online monitoring tool that presents a daily graphic summary of online conversations

The tool examines five areas: energy and environment, education, jobs and the economy, healthcare, and defence and military.

The tool also zeroes in on specific conversations within those subject areas; it has analyzed online chatter around the Tea Party movement and the Stewart/Colbert rally, for instance.

“Our intention is to deliver a daily snapshot of how engaged observers feel about current political issues and news of the day,” said Colin Moffett, SVP of digital communications at Powell State, in a statement.

PoliPulse uses an algorithm, powered by social media monitoring and analysis firm Crimson Hexagon, to pinpoint statistical patterns in conversations taking place online, including through blog posts, forums and tweets.
