APCO acquires JiWin PR

WASHINGTON: APCO Worldwide has acquired JiWin Public Relations, a 35-person PR agency based in Dubai.

WASHINGTON: APCO Worldwide has acquired JiWin Public Relations, a 35-person PR agency based in Dubai.

Margery Kraus, founder and CEO of APCO, said that APCO has combined its small office in Dubai with JiWin. Founded in 2006, JiWin works with clients throughout the Arab and Northern African regions, including Dubai Holding, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, and NASDAQ Dubai.

“We had worked with JiWin on a couple of projects, and really liked them. We started talking and they said it made sense for us to be able to provide a future for them to grow in the region,” Kraus told PRWeek. “JiWin had a lot of local market knowledge, but they didn't have the global connectivity. So the acquisition made a lot of sense because it would really enhance our offer on the local level, but connect everybody on a global one.”

APCO and Tecom Investments, a subsidiary of Dubai Holding which had owned JiWin, did not disclose financial details of the transaction.

Kraus said APCO plans to use JiWin as the hub to expand in the Gulf. “This will be a good way for us to stimulate some organic growth,” she said. “For us, it was about having some critical mass in the market.”
