Hynes leaves Bite, joins Weber Shandwick

SAN FRANCISCO: Weber Shandwick hired former Bite Communications general manager Tony Hynes as an EVP of its technology practice.

SAN FRANCISCO: Weber Shandwick hired former Bite Communications general manager Tony Hynes as an EVP of its technology practice.

At Weber, Hynes will help build the agency's tech practice, support major client projects, and drive growth in the Northern California region.  With the position he also becomes part of Weber's technology practice leadership team.

At Bite he was West Coast general manager, and managed accounts including HP and Sun Microsystems. He also helped establish the agency's cleantech practice.

“Tony contributed a lot to Bite over the last five years and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” said Michelle Herman, Bite's North America general manager.

Herman said the agency doesn't have immediate plans to fill the position, and is instead evaluating its North American leadership structure to align with the needs of its clients and employees, while being tied less to the geographic location of each office. Herman, who Bite recently hired, started in her role in September.

Hynes will be based in the agency's San Francisco office, and report to Robert Dowling, who heads Weber's North America technology practice.

Hynes starts on Nov. 22.
