MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: Professional social networking service LinkedIn plans to grow its internal PR team in 2011.
LinkedIn VP of corporate communications Shannon Stubo said she plans to hire up to three PR pros next year, one for internal corporate communications, and up to two based abroad in Europe and Asia.
The hires would increase the company's internal PR team to a total of 11, said Stubo.
“I think we have such an amazing story to tell, and there are so many different angles we can be telling,” she said. “We need more arms and legs to tell them.”
In the last year, the number of unique users on LinkedIn has roughly doubled to 57 million users in September of this year.
Stubo was hired at LinkedIn in September, and previously ran corporate communications at the San Francisco-based online restaurant reservation service OpenTable. Before that she had a seven year stint at eBay, where in 2008 she left as VP of corporate communications.
LinkedIn also recently hired former HP director of corporate media relations Hani Durzy as director of corporate communications. Julie Han Inouye was hired as senior manager, product communications, and will start on Nov. 22.
PR firm Hill & Knowlton is LinkedIn's AOR for PR in the US. The company also works with Edelman for communications work outside of US, and Just Drive Media solely for trade publication relations.
