WALTHAM, MA: Schwartz Communications promoted Merrill Freund to GM of the firm's San Francisco office in October. Freund, previously an EVP and assistant GM, replaces Bryan Scanlon, president of Schwartz Communications. Scanlon was promoted to president in 2009. The firm also promoted Dave Close to GM of the Waltham office, a new position, in June.
