DENVER: Examiner.com hired Ogilvy PR as its US AOR for strategic communications, including building awareness of the brand and some consumer-focused PR.
The appointment ends a lengthy agency search that started back in 2009 when an RFP was issued to eight agencies, three of which made it to the final selection process last year, said Examiner.com SVP of content and marketing Suzie Austin.
Edelman and Gyro:HSR were two of the final three candidates for the work, said Austin. The account didn't have an incumbent, though Austin said Examiner.com worked with a number of different agencies on a project basis last year, including Ogilvy.
“While they're obviously a larger, full-service firm, they do a great job to provide small agency attention to details and relationship building,” said Austin.
Examiner.com launched in 2008, and its team of writers across the country produces more than 3,000 original articles daily. As part of the job, Ogilvy is charged with communicating Examiner.com's value proposition to digital marketers.
Austin declined to disclose the size of the account.
A team of four will work the account day-to-day out of Ogilvy's New York and Denver offices. Ogilvy SVP Siobhan Aalders will lead the account from the New York office, and report to both Austin and Examiner.com director of marketing and PR Justin Jimenez.
