Spigit hires Edelman for press strategy

PLEASANTON, CA: Innovation management software company Spigit hired Edelman as its AOR for press strategy and communications around product launches.

Spigit SVP of marketing Brian Wick confirmed the work is at least a six-figure annual account. Spigit didn't issue an RFP for the work, but did review pitches from six different agencies starting the fourth quarter of last year, he said.

Edelman will focus on managing press strategy and messaging for Spigit this year, starting in major business publications and then subsequently trade publications. “They [Edelman] appear to have that reach…and have the creativity,” Wick added.

Among the agencies that pitched for the work include Atomic PR, MSR Communications, and Schwartz Communications, Wick confirmed. Voce Communications confirmed it was considered for the work, but said it did not actively put together a pitch. 

The incumbent for the work was Text 100. Text 100 did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.

“We were just looking for a fresh approach,” Wick said. 

A team of four is working the account out of Edelman's San Mateo, CA office, headed by Edelman VP Travis Murdock. Murdock reports to Wick.

Spigit does not work with any other PR agencies.
