CLEVELAND: Midwest-based George A. Becker & Co. and Communica have partnered to support marketing communications efforts for Chinese companies looking to promote their products in the US.
The two b-to-b marketing communications firms, who have had a joint relationship since 1999, have opened up a Becker-CMCA office in Shanghai, which will provide branding, market research, public relations, and advertising services to local Chinese markets.
George Becker, founder of George A. Becker & Co., points particularly to the automotive market in the Midwest as a market that the Chinese are increasingly interested in.
"[The Chinese] are investing indirectly or directly and to do that they're going to need everyone from translators to certainly law firms," he said. "It's a different game when the Chinese are coming this way, so they'll need legal advice, advice from CPAs, the gamut. It seems last on the list that's often overlooked is the folks in our positions from building a brand to positioning a product."
Becker-CMCA has recently begun working with a LED lighting manufacturer in Southern China, said Becker. The work is not yet contracted.
Jessica Shi has been appointed to head the new Shanghai office. She was a former marketing representative at BYD Auto's Export Trade Division and also has experience in international trade.
Becker-CMCA has also enlisted support from consulting companies in Ohio and Michigan to promote business development between the US and China. Becker and Communica's client experience has included automotive, building products, alternative energy, performance materials, healthcare, cosmetics, scrap metals, and financial services.
