SAN FRANCISCO: WCG said global revenue grew 37% to around $37 million in 2010, compared to the $26.9 million it reported in 2009.
The San Francisco-based agency, which was founded in 2001, has nearly tripled its revenue since 2007. WCG reported global revenue of $26.9 million for 2009, $18.9 million for 2008, and $13 million for 2007.
Jim Weiss, chairman and CEO of WCG, attributes the 2010 growth to the firm's work with larger companies in the healthcare industry, the diversity of the sectors it works in, and growth in new media.
He said about 85% of WCG's revenue stems from work with healthcare clients, although the firm is increasingly doing work in the consumer and technology sectors. The agency employs nearly 200 staffers, with plans for additional hires in the spring.
Weiss said WCG expects revenues to exceed $45 million in 2011, but added: “Given biotech and pharma, it's hard to tell. If a drug fails, your business is out.”
