Hallmark's SVP of corporate comms, Carr passes away

KANSAS CITY, MO: Nancy Carr, SVP of corporate communications at Hallmark Channels, passed away at age 50.

KANSAS CITY, MO: Nancy Carr, SVP of corporate communications at Hallmark Channels, passed away at age 50.

Carr joined Hallmark in 2005 and was responsible for crafting a unified message after Hallmark called off the search for a buyer, the CEO stepped down, and the company laid off 20 people, including the CMO, all just a few months after she started in the role.

In 2007, Carr was featured as a PRWeek Newsmaker and discussed her strategy of sticking to the company's core values and strengths after it acquired I Love Lucy, Cheers, and 7th Heaven for its off-net series; renewed distribution agreements for the Hallmark Movie Channel; and added an HD version of the movie channel.

“I would call Nancy a complete PR professional, she knew and understood our brand. People described her as a caring person and indeed she was. It's a sad day and a huge loss for us,” said Steve Doyal, SVP of public affairs and communications at Hallmark Cards.

Prior to joining Hallmark, Carr was VP of communications for CBS Television Network.
