Weber Shandwick hires EVP, senior global corporate strategist

WASHINGTON, DC: Michael Stopford, who previously worked for NATO, was appointed to EVP and senior global corporate strategist at Weber Shandwick.

WASHINGTON, DC: Michael Stopford, who previously worked for NATO, was appointed to EVP and senior global corporate strategist at Weber Shandwick.

Stopford, who's expertise spans both communications and public affairs, will handle the firm's global corporate clients particularly in the areas of corporate reputation and social responsibility. He will be based in Washington, D.C., and will report to Micho Spring, chair of the global corporate practice.

Most recently, Stopford served as the deputy assistant secretary general for strategic communications services for NATO. He has also worked as director of the United Nations Information Center, and chief of media and public relations for the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank's private sector arm. Stopford's corporate assignments have included work for Coca-Cola, Syngenta International, and ExxonMobil.
