NEW YORK: Devries PR has launched a month-long competition called Career Reboot, in which the agency's top executives will give one PR pro a career makeover.
“We thought it would be a fun way to bring some value to people out there looking for a job or to make a move, or maybe even looking to shift over from another marketing discipline,” said Stephanie Smirnov, president of Devries PR.
The makeover includes a full-day coaching session, covering skills ranging from networking to developing a strong social media profile.
Contestants will be evaluated on a 200-word essay, their resume plus two references, and at least one link to a social media profile. On March 22, five finalists will be posted on the Devries Facebook page, where votes will determine the winner. Voting closes March 28, with the winner announced on March 30.
Smirnov said they also see the program as a recruitment tool. “We also thought this would be a great way for us to start meeting some candidates who maybe we otherwise wouldn't.”
Devries PR is promoting Career Reboot through its blog, Facebook page, and Twitter handle.
The program was inspired by Be Your Own Publicist, the recently released book co-written by Devries MD Meryl Weinsaft Cooper, added Smirnov.
